Help Ever, Hurt Never

Carlos Tabernaberri, an Australian-based trainer originally from Argentina, has gained worldwide recognition for his groundbreaking approach to horsemanship.

Disheartened by the traditional methods of horse training, which often involved force and coercion, Carlos chose to follow the lead of the horses themselves.

He prioritises understanding, trust, and partnership over dominance, making a moral commitment to advocate for the well-being of the horses he works with. Described as the ‘next generation of horsemen’ and the ‘gentlest horseman yet to touch a horse’, Carlos is known for achieving remarkable results in handling foals, starting young horses, improving competition and pleasure horses, and rehabilitating abused ones.

His philosophy revolves around the idea of good horsemanship, which transcends disciplines and places the horse’s well-being as the paramount concern. Carlos emphasises the importance of listening to the horse and finding approaches to training that make sense to both the horse and the handler.

He believes that true experience comes from working directly with the horse rather than solely relying on theory or tradition. Carlos actively supports equine charities and was recognised for his advocacy by receiving the Equitarian Award from Quest Equine Welfare.

Through his dedication, compassion, and commitment to improving the lives of horses, Carlos Tabernaberri continues to inspire both horse enthusiasts and professionals worldwide.

Thank you so much Carlos for kind patient training with Levi and me, I have to pinch myself to believe he is the same little guy all those years ago in the desert.

Thanks to Carlos' expert guidance, Lacey and I have transformed from constant conflict to a harmonious partnership. Lacey, once lacking confidence, is now balanced and content, while I've gained confidence and patience as a horsewoman. Carlos taught us to ride bitless and face fears, his horse psychology knowledge instrumental in our progress. Without him, we'd still struggle, grateful for his mediation, mentorship, and the chance to continue growing together.
